A poignant interview by Barbara Gibbs of ABC 11 News, Raleigh, NC

In June 2009, David was recognized as "Person of the Week" by ABC News 11 in Raleigh, NC. An interview was scheduled with Barbara Gibbs at Duke's in-patient Hospice facility. As the day of the interview neared, David's ability to communicate clearly and coherently steadily diminished. Amazingly though, that Thursday, with minutes to spare, David rallied. He articulated his thoughts and feelings, answering each interview question with focused intent. Beautifully-crafted, the segment aired Friday evening with David conscious of its content. Early the following day, on a warm, cloud-free, summer Saturday morning, June 6, 2009, David passed peacefully from a life of pain and suffering into his perfect, heavenly one, the message he had been given to share faithfully delivered - an unmistakable, undeniable message - of hope.

One year since David, battling severe pain, extreme fatigue, and recurring bouts of nausea, founded this charitable organization, news of its growing impact spread across the state. David paid forward all of the love, support, and amazing hope he had to share through this selfless gift to others.
