Janna met David's mom, Suzanne, when she moved to Durham to attend graduate school in 2007. Their friendship grew stronger over the next two years, and when Suzanne asked Janna to make awareness bracelets for Big Dave's Big Gift (BDBG), Janna was honored to contribute to this incredible and important cause and designed a line of cancer awareness jewelry that you can purchase through this site.
Janna's father is a cancer survivor. She is passionate about the importance of cancer awareness and research because of her personal experience, as well the experiences of people close to her who have battled the disease. Alison Kelley has been making jewelry for over 17 years. For almost a decade she was making jewelry for her friends and family. In 2006, after making a necklace for her mom, she regained the passion she once had for creating little works of art. With support and encouragement from her family and friends, she turned one of her life’s strongest passions into a full-time business – Alison Kelley Designs.
The flexibility of having her own business allows her to raise her three energetic boys all while still managing the household. Making jewelry is a creative outlet for Alison, who comes from a talented family of seamstresses and artists. Alison’s immediate family is from Malta, a tiny island located in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea. Breathtaking Maltese seascapes are an inspiration for Alison’s jewelry designs. You can see its influence in her nautical designs that feature blue colors of the mystical sea and natural materials such as shell and mother of pearl.
